Short description of the Group and objectives:

The Technological Social Sciences Research Group (TESSREG) is constituted as a research platform lo give support to a new generation of scientific studies in the area of the Humanities.

The action frameworks will preferably focus on the new challenges demanded by our current society:

  • Production of knowledge in the field of Humanities.
  • Education in the Knowledge Society in order to promote lifelong learning and the acquisition of digital competences.
  • Social and economic profitability of Social Sciences and Humanities research.
  • The study of the applicability of emerging technologies to Social Sciences and Humanities.

The basic research lines are:

  • Application of new technologies to Social Sciences and Humanities research.
  • Updating of the management strategies of the historical, artistic, cultural and tourist heritage through digital media.
  • Development of new didactic materials and training itineraries related to Social Sciences and Humanities.
  • Application of new technologies to the promotion and exploitation of the cultural heritage.

Investigation lines:

  • Humanities and technological innovation (current and emerging technological tools).
  • Management, monetization and public dissemination of historical, artistic, cultural and tourist heritage by means of digital media.
  • Education for Digital Humanities: creation of multimedia didactic materials and design of training itineraries.
  • Digital Marketing and on line promotion actions of cultural heritage.
  • New Media Art and Digital Communication in Immersive Environments.

The research group GI-17/1GICSOT has been registered as an official research group on the Spanish R&D Plan, recognized by ANEP and will be in a position to apply for the María de Maeztu quality seal of the R&D State Secretary in its third year.
