Descripción
The Spanish C1.1 course is the gateway to the level known as Effective Operational Proficiency. Reaching this level entails the ability to express oneself clearly in fluent Spanish while obtaining a rich vocabulary and total mastery of written Spanish.
This course will train the student to use the language in a flexible and effective manner for social, academic and professional purposes, and to understand a wide variety of extensive texts of varying difficulties.
To take this course, one must have an internal MOU certificate exceeding a level B2.2 or submit an equivalent accreditation from another language certification.

- Understand extensive speech, even when of a high degree of difficulty and specialization.
- Express oneself fluently, naturally and effectively in any personal or occupational situation.
- Make clear statements on difficult and varied topics.
- Comprehend lengthy literary texts while appreciating the style used therein.
- Write about complex subjects in a style suitable for every occasion.
Metodología
The chosen learning and content assessment methodology for this course is based on the MOU distance learning and continuing education model.
Knowledge of the subject is achieved through careful study of all the teaching units, as well as through other teaching materials made available in the Virtual Classroom.
Additionally, it is necessary for the students to complete the learning and continuous assessment activities in the planned 'educational activities schedule', as defined in the 'evaluation system', both subheadings found in the course’s teaching guide. These activities target the development of one or several of the basic skills and consist of writing, reading, music videos, audio tracks (podcast), live conversations by means of audio-conference and so on.
Furthermore, the students will have four mandatory online exams, required for admission to the final, in-person exam. At the end of the course, students must complete a written and oral exam to fully assess the knowledge acquired throughout the course.
The conceptual doubts that arise after careful study of the teaching units and supplementary information must be brought up in the Virtual Classroom Tuition Forums.
Dedicación requerida
It is estimated that it will take approximately 60 hours to read and understand the theoretical contents covered in the various teaching units, while the Continuing Assessment Activities (CAA), learning activities and exams will take about 75 hours. Another 15 hours should be sufficient for the student to consolidate the knowledge and abilities acquired during the course in preparation for the final, in-person exam.
Tutorías
Las dudas conceptuales que surjan tras el estudio razonado de las unidades del manual y/o del material complementario deben plantearse en los Foros de Tutorías disponibles en el Aula Virtual.
No obstante, está a disposición de los estudiantes un horario de tutorías telefónicas o consultas mediante correo electrónico.
Se quiere destacar la importancia de los foros como principal canal de comunicación con el profesor y con los compañeros del aula, además de ser una herramienta primordial para el intercambio de conocimientos, facilitando así el aprendizaje de los conceptos asociados a la asignatura.
La participación en las tutorías, que serán adaptadas en función de las características y necesidades de cada estudiante, también es muy recomendable. Estas sesiones de tutorización se realizarán prioritariamente utilizando los foros virtuales o el teléfono.
A continuación se recogen diferentes recursos de apoyo para la metodología de la asignatura:
Aula Virtual: Por medio del aula el estudiante se puede comunicar a cualquier hora con su profesor y con sus compañeros.
Materiales didácticos
Para el desarrollo del aprendizaje teórico, sobre el que versará el examen final, se proporcionará al estudiante un manual constituido por unidades didácticas, que se corresponden con la descripción de contenidos de la asignatura. Este manual podrá tener diferentes formatos dependiendo de la asignatura.
La bibliografía recomendada y los materiales complementarios asociados al desarrollo de cada asignatura serán facilitados en el Aula Virtual al hilo del desarrollo de las unidades didácticas.
